Great neighbors make great neighborhoods

By Cynthia Ward

I enjoy attending community events and supporting local talent.  That’s why I decided to spend four hours outside in 90 plus degree weather attending the 2nd Annual Moores Park Neighborhood Porch Festival (September 23, 2017).  The Porch Festival is a neat concept.  Porches. Talent. Neighbors.  It’s that simple!  The day began with the Moores Park Bug Reveal at REACH Art Studio.  A great piece of functional art was created by the “Scrap Art Guy”!

The Porch Festival’s music and spoken word performances were superb.  I only intended to stay for a single porch or two.  I ended up staying for and enjoying every single act.  I walked from porch to porch and met very nice people.  And, I got to see this piece of automotive history.  It’s a beautiful Ford Model S owned by a lovely Moores Park resident who allowed me to hop in for a ride (as a passenger).  Oh, and yes, I did collect petition signatures along the way from some very encouraging folks.  Thank you, Moores Park Neighborhood; I enjoyed my afternoon with you.  Let’s do it again in 2018!
